As with most waterproof garments, the more you wash it the quicker it will age. Only wash when completely necessary and take car when cleaning your changing robes.

To hand wash
Prepare the Robe: Turn your changing robe inside out and close all the zippers. This helps protect the outer shell  during washing. 

Select Detergent: Choose a mild, non-biological detergent without fabric softener. Detergents designed for performance clothing, such as Grangers Performance Wash products are gentler on your robe.

Prepare the Basin: Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add the recommended amount of detergent. Use less detergent than you might expect—a little goes a long way. Mix the detergent into the water to create a soapy solution.

Wash the Robe: Submerge your robe fully in the soapy water. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, gently swirling the water occasionally. If certain areas need extra cleaning, gently scrub them with a clean cloth.

Rinse: Drain the soapy water and rinse the robe thoroughly with clean water until it runs clear. Avoid wringing the fabric. Instead, gently press to remove excess water.

Remove Excess Water: Lay a clean towel flat, place the robe on top, and roll them together to form a firm tube. This helps absorb excess water without damaging the fabric.

Dry the Changing Robe: Hang or line dry the robe, avoiding direct sunlight. To speed up the drying process, leave the robe inside out, which helps the inner lining dry faster. Avoid using heat sources like radiators, fires, or heaters, as they can damage the garment's waterproofing.

Aftercare: After washing the robe a few times it may become less waterproof, this is easily fixed by apply a garment waterproofer, these can come in the form of a spray which is super quick to apply, we recommended using Nikwax waterproofing spray.

Bleach: The harsh chemicals in bleach will strip the colour, deteriorate the waterproof coating and weaken the fabric, leading to leaks and damage.

Heavy Duty or Regular Detergents: These detergents, with their aggressive cleaning agents, can be too harsh for waterproof fabrics, causing damage to both the material and the waterproof layer.

Stain Removers: Many stain removal products are too harsh for waterproof garments, potentially damaging both the fabric and the waterproof membrane.

To preserve the waterproof integrity of your changing robe, opt for mild, non-biological detergents or those specifically designed for technical, performance and waterproof garments.

can you tumble dry a changing robe?

No! Don't use a tumble dryer for your robe, it'll make it wear out faster. The best way to dry it is to let it naturally air dry, either by hanging it up on a line or a hook. Make sure it's not in the sun to keep the fabric safe. To dry it faster, flip the robe inside out so the inside part dries quicker.
